Detoxification

We are always exposed to toxins. We ingest them in foods we eat (if not organic) we inhale pollution from cars unless we live remotely. Do you use homemade or organic household products and cosmetics? Do you use room sprays, candles?

Do you have a cleaning product for everything, one for the bathroom, one for dusting, another for cleaning the windows, one for the kitchen?

For dusting use a damp cloth, nothing else needed. For everything else you can purchase or make one organic product.

Do you regularly drink alcohol, can your liver cope with everything you throw at it, because these harmful compounds accumulate in the body causing a range of health issues.

Don’t bury your head just yet, there’s hope!

Give your liver a break and take regular detox days avoiding:

  • All grains that contain gluten
  • Processed food
  • Foods containing sugar
  • Dairy products
  • Alcohol
  • Caffeine
  • Meat and fish

Do include:

  • 2 litres of (filtered if possible) Water
  • Only water for cooking at high temperatures
  • RAW nuts and seeds
  • Avoid plastic bottles, food packaging, tupperware
  • Avoid using a microwave, especially with food in plastic containers
  • Use natural, chemical-free cosmetics and household cleaning products, why not make your own household products using white vinegar, lemon juice and baking soda.

Foods and herbs that are great for your liver:

Cruciferous vegetables such as cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage, brussels sprouts

Garlic, onions

Bitter vegetables such as watercress, dandelion greens, rocket salad and chicory

B vitamins such as: brown rice and whole grains, broccoli and spinach

Apples and berries

Turmeric and green tea

Dandelion and Milk Thistle

Maybe some smoothies:

It’s easy to go along with buying the pretty chemical laden cosmetics and household products, you may think where’s the harm everyone buys it, they wouldn’t sell it if it was harmful, think again, if it makes money and it’s allowed it will be on sale. Maybe the product is described as safe in small quantities, but what’s small quantities, is it spraying it once a day, once a week, once a month? Has it been tested on humans, unlikely, more likely animals. Would you eat it, or spray it into your mouth, if you wouldn’t, why would you even think of using it when it will get inside you and your children. Especially as a homemade or organic shop bought product can do the job just as well.

Please read the labels of everything you use and eat, because ultimately your body is not supposed to ingest poisons.
